Summary: Iron overload due to blood transfusions - Children aged 2 to < 6

Children with an iron overload due to blood transfusion are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Schneider Children’s Hospital.

Your child may be eligible to participate in this study if he/she:

• Is between the ages of 2 and < 6
• Is eligible or has begun treatment with deferasirox
• Has transfusion-dependent anemias or sickle-cell disease or an iron overload

Your child may not participate in this study if he/she:

• Has non-transfusional hemosiderosis (iron overload)
• Has cancer, active AIDS or other severe related illnesses
• Has participated in another research study within the last 30 days
