Summary: A Study for Reducing the Risk of Major Cardiovascular Events in Abdominally Obese Patients with Clustering Risk Factors.

This is a Study for Patients who are adbominally obese who have had cardiac events or are at risk for cardiovascular events. This is using an oral medication.

Patient Inclusion Criteria

• Men or Women who are 55 years of age or older.
• Presence of abdominal obesity, for men a waist size greater than 40 inches and women a waist size greater than 35 inches.
• The presence of at least one coronary heart disease risk equivalent or two major cardiovascular risk factors.

Patient Exclusion Criteria

• Obesity due to known endocrine disorder.
• Very low calorie diet (1200 calories a day or less) or surgical procedure for weight loss within 6 months prior to baseline visit.
