Trial Information

Summary: People with Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have been diagnosed with metastatic or recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Progressed within 6 months of curative treatment for localized/locally advanced disease
  • Were treated with any other anti-cancer or any investigational drugs during the last four weeks
  • Have received more than two (2) cytotoxic therapies (any kind of anti-cancer therapy, e.g., chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy) for recurrent/metastatic disease
  • Have nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas
  • Have a history of other malignancies (except for appropriately treated superficial basal cell skin cancer and surgically cured cervical cancer) unless free of disease for at least 3 years
  • Have a history of decompensated heart failure (where the heart progressively loses the ability to pump blood)
  • Have an active infectious disease
  • Have a gastrointestinal disorder or chronic diarrhea
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
