Trial Information
Summary: A migraine study to find and treat cardiac defect (PFO)for potential relief of migraines.
If you have tried both a beta-blocker(inderal, propranolol) and
an anti-epileptic (topomax, depakote)- to prevent migraines and not
had good results- you may qualify for this study. We will screen
you for a certain cardiac defect and if found to have this then you
may be randomized to receive a remedy for the defect to potentially
decrease or minimize your migraines.
Patient Inclusion Criteria
- 18-70 years old
- 4-14 migraine episodes per month
- ineffective trial of beta-blocker and anti-epileptic
medications to prevent migraines
Patient Exclusion Criteria
- chronic daily headache
- fibromyalgia or other chronic pain syndromes
