Trial Information
Summary: PHII-75, NCI #7435: A Phase I/II Study of E7389 Halichondrin B Analog (NSC 707389; IND #64395) in Metastatic Urothelial Tract Cancer and Renal Insufficiency
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have cancer of the lining of the bladder or the kidney (called transitional cell carcinoma) which cannot be removed surgically at this time. This study will be looking at two different groups of subjects. The first group studied are those with moderate or severe renal dysfunction (kidney problems). For these subjects, the purpose of the study is to see if E7389 can be given safely and to study how long E7389 remains in the body by measuring the amount of drug in the blood at various times after the drug is given. The second group of subjects will have normal kidneys. In this group, the purpose of the study is to determine the type and length of response bladder or kidney cancer will have when treated with E7389. In both groups, researchers will be looking for the side effects of E7389. Your treatment on this study is expected to last for as long as your cancer is not growing and you are not having any unmanageable side effects. After your treatment on this study is over, your medical condition will be followed indefinitely.
