Summary: An fMRI Study of Self-Regulation in Adolescents with Bulimia Nervosa (Bn)
Age Range Eligible: 12 - 21 years
Gender Eligible: Female
Language Requirements (Parent and Child): Must speak English
Exclusion Criteria:
- DSM-IV Axis I lifetime diagnosis of PDD, Autism,
Asperger’s
- Any other current major Axis I disorder, other than
depression
- Do not have claustrophobia
- Do not have any ferromagnetic or metal implants
- Are not currently pregnant
Brief Synopsis of the Study:
We aim to use both functional MRI (fMRI) and behavioral measures
to investigate disturbances in self-regulatory control that may
contribute to the development of BN. Findings from this study will
have wide-ranging importance for our understanding of the
development and treatment of BN.
Eligible participants will complete paper and pencil tests and
computer games, as well as an MRI scan. Total time for completion
of this study is ~ 4 hours compensation is provided ($100). There
are no direct benefits to you as an individual. All assessments are
for research purposes only. Your participation may help further our
understanding of neurobiological factors that may contribute to the
development of BN.
