Trial Information
Summary: Undergoing a Colonoscopy?
Undergoing colonoscopy? The UVA Digestive Health Center of Excellence is seeking men and women that are undergoing colonoscopy for any reason to participate in a clinical trial evaluating contrast-enhanced ultrasound using Definity microbubbles. Definity is a contrast agent commonly used in cardiac testing such as echocardiography, but is currently not approved for the evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract. This study is being performed to evaluate the role of Definity-enhanced ultrasound in detecting intestinal inflammation. The purpose of this study is to see whether ultrasound using Definity is effective at detecting intestinal inflammation, and how closely this correlates to any inflammation found on colonoscopy. Subjects will have the ultrasound performed immediately prior to colonoscopy. Compensation for time and travel will be provided.
