Summary: Study Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of Dexmedetomidine in the Prevention of Postoperative Delirium in Subjects Undergoing Surgery for Fractured Hip with General Anesthesia
People who are undergoing a surgery for fracture hip and having
general anesthesia are asked to participate in a research involving
a drug that will be given during the surgery to help with
postoperative delirium. This study is being conducted by Mount
Sinai School of Medicine.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if
you:
- Are at least 18 years of age
- Are having hip surgery
You may not participate in this study if
you:
- Are pregnant/ lactating or intend to become pregnant during the
study
- Are expected to have multiple surgical procedures within 72
hours of start of drug infusion
- Have participated in another research study within the last 30
days
