Trial Information

Summary: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study To Assess The Efficacy and Safety of Prophylactic Use of Maribavir for the Prevention of Cytomegalovirus Disease in Recipients of Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplants

You are being asked to take part in this research study because you are going to have or have undergone an allogeneic (from a matched donor) stem cell transplant (ASCT) and are at risk for developing cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.  CMV is a type of virus that often infects transplant patients.  The purpose of this research study is to compare an investigational antiviral medicine called maribavir to placebo (identical-looking medication that contains no active drug) in terms of effectiveness at preventing CMV disease after ASCT and side effects.  Another purpose is to evaluate pharmacokinetics (study of how the body processes the drug).  Your participation in this study is expected to last about 12 weeks for treatment and 48 weeks for follow-up.
