Summary: Acid-reflux disease (GERD) - Newborns

Newborns and premature infants with a corrected age (the age a premature baby would be if he/she had been born on their due date) of less than 44 weeks with acid-reflux disease are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Jacobi Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if your:

  • newborn or premature infant has a corrected age of less than 44 weeks and is admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit
  • newborn or premature infant has symptoms of acid-reflux disease

You may not participate in this study if your newborn or premature infant:

  • Has heart problems, life-threatening arrhythmia or previous cardiac arrest
  • Has any significant immunodeficiency disorders, such as HIV or AIDS
  • Has participated in another research study within the last 30 days
