Summary: ECOG E5805 "A phase I trial of E7389 (Halichondrin B Analog), in patients with metastatic hormone refractory prostate cancer"

This research is being done because curent therapy does not help everyone with this disease. The purpose of this study is to find out the effects, goo and bad, E7389 (Halichondrin B Analog) has on the patient and the patient's cancer. It has not been FDA approved for use in treating prostate cancer.

Patient Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients must have histologically proven adenocarcinoma of the prostate gland.
  • Patients must have progressive disease.
  • Patients must have had prior tretment with bilateral orchiectomy or other primary hormonal therapy.

Patient Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients with known heart disease.
  • Patients must not have brain metstatisis.
  • Patients must not have had radiotherapy < 4 weeks prior to registration.
