Trial Information
Summary: PHII-70 NCI #7077: Randomized Phase II Trial of Sequential versus Concurrent Docetaxel and PS-341 (NSC 681239, IND 58,443) in Previously Treated Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is no longer getting better with standard treatment using a platinum drug (for example, cisplatin, carboplatin or oxaliplatin). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the number of subjects with non-small cell lung cancer who respond (whose tumors shrink or stay the same) to treatment with Docetaxel and PS-341 Additional objectives are to evaluate how long it takes for disease to return, overall length of life and side effects. Researchers will also look at genes in tumor specimens to see whether response to treatment can be predicted and to see if the genes change over time. They will also study the levels of this combination of drugs that remain in the body over time. Your treatment will continue for at least six weeks but may continue for as long as your disease does not grow and you have no unmanageable side effects. After you complete treatment, your medical condition will be followed on this study indefinitely.
