Summary: Research Volunteers Needed for a Sleep Device Study in Long-Haul Truck Drivers

Researchers at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center College of Nursing are conducting a study to determine if the visual display from a wrist-worn device called an actigraph will influence the amount and quality of sleep and attitudes about sleep that truck drivers obtain on the road.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • have had a commercial driver’s license for at least one year;
  • have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate;
  • sleep in your truck at least three nights per week;
  • speak, read and write English;
  • have not been diagnosed with sleep apnea, neurologic disorder, or pregnancy;
  • are willing to wear a wrist device; and
  • complete a written questionnaire daily for 20 days.
