Trial Information
Summary: Parents of Boys Ages 7-17
Researchers at Boston University are seeking typically
developing children and adolescents ages 7-17 for a study of brain
structure using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
In this research project, we are studying brain structure and
function in typically developing children and in children who have
autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
Participation requires a 5 hour commitment which may be
completed in one or two visits, and will include a practice session
in a fake brain scanner, some cognitive or behavioral testing, and
the actual MRI scan.
Eligible participants must meet the following
criteria:
- must be male
- between the ages of 7 and 17
- speak English as a first language
- have no diagnosis of any developmental disorder or learning
disability, including ADD/ADHD
- have no history of premature birth, seizure disorder, or head
trauma
- have no permanent metal in the body, including dental braces or
unremovable retainers (other dental work, including fillings and
crowns, is okay - call us if you're not sure!)
At the end of the MRI scan, each participant will receive $50
and a picture of his brain! We will also provide parking, travel
reimbursement, and lunch and snacks.
