Trial Information
Summary: Would you like to try a new contraceptive pill?
A combined oral contraceptive pill is being studied in women
throughout the world as part of a large medical research study.
For the first time, this new pill uses natural estrogen (just
like the body’s own hormone) in the place of the synthetic
alternative (ethinyl estradiol) that’s used in existing combined
oral contraceptives. The progestogen hormone being used in the pill
is also new in its use for contraception.
This study aims to confirm the efficacy and safety of the new
pill, and will also examine other effects of this new combination
of hormones, such as how they affect mood, sexuality and symptoms
related to the menstrual period.
You may qualify to participate if you are:
- A sexually active woman
- Needing contraception and willing to use a pill for 12
months
- At least 18 but not older than 50 years
- In good physical and mental health
Patient Exclusion Criteria
- Not willing to take oral contraception for 1 year.
