Trial Information
Summary: CTSU/ECOG E2805: A Randomized, Double-Blind Phase III Trial of Adjuvant Sunitinib versus Sorafenib versus Placebo in Resected Renal Cell Carcinoma
You are being asked to take part in this research study because you have kidney cancer (renal cell cancer, RCC) which has just been removed or is about to be removed, and you are thought to be at high risk for relapse (return of disease). The purpose of this study is to determine if Sunitinib and/or Sorafenib can prevent recurrence of kidney cancer as compared to placebo (inactive agent). This study will also evaluate overall survival and side effects in subjects receiving these treatments. Researchers will also study tumor and blood specimens in the laboratory to find out whether biological and genetic differences in tumors are related to differences in response to treatment and to find out the effects of the different treatments on the cancer genes. Your participation in this study is expected to last 54 weeks (about 1 year) for treatment and your condition will be followed indefinitely.
