Summary: An 8-week, multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination of valsartan/HCTZ/amlodipine compared to valsartan/HCTZ, valsartan/amlodipine, and HCTZ/amlodipine in patients with moderate to severe hypertension

This study is for male and female patients that have moderate to severe high blood pressure(hypertension). The study compares 4 different combinations of 3 drugs to see which combinations are safe and can best help people with hypertension.

Patient Inclusion Criteria

  • Patients must be between 18 and 86 years of age.
  • Patients must have moderate to severe hypertension.

Patient Exclusion Criteria

  • Patients must not be on 4 or more medications for hypertension.
  • Patients must not have had a heart attack.
  • Patients must not have a history of gout.
  • Patients must not have systemic lupus erythematosus.
