Summary: Refractory Partial Seizures

People with refractory partial seizures are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by NYU School of Medicine.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are between 18 and 80 years old
  • Have epilepsy with partial seizures
  • Have been treated with at least 2 other anti-epileptic drugs which have not been successful in controlling your seizures

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have had a history of alcohol abuse within the past 2 years
  • Have had a history of attempted suicide in the past 10 years
  • Have need of rescue benzodiazepines more than once a month
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
  • Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
