Trial Information
Summary: The effect of estrogen and DHEa supplementation on serum lipids, muscle mass, strength and endurance.
The overall goal of this study is to examine the effect of
replacement with a combination of conjugated estrogen and DHEA to
menopausal women on serum endocrine levels, serum lipid parameters
as well as muscle mass, strength and endurance. It is thought that
the combination of estrogen and androgen replacment therapy will
provide physiologic replacement of sex steroids, increase muscle
mass, strength and endurance with no dramatic impact on serum lipid
levels comparted to supplementation with estrogen alone and
compared to placebo.
The study will last for three months, during which patients will
take medication, undergo muscle strength testing and some may have
an MRI.
Participants will be compensated for time and effort and will
recieve free health exam at beginning and end of the study.
