Trial Information

Summary: SWOG S0350: Phase II Trial of Cisplatin Plus Etoposide Plus Gemcitabine Plus Solumedrol (Pegs) in Peripheral T-Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have peripheral T-cell lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness (good or bad) of the combination of treatments using induction chemotherapy treatment with PEGS (cisplatin, etoposide, gemcitabine, and solumedrol), has on peripheral T-cell lymphoma.  This experimental study is being done because currently there is no effective treatment for this type of cancer, and there are no known treatments that are superior (better) to the chemotherapy treatment with CHOP (cyclophosphamide, adriamycin, vincristine, prednisone).  This combination of treatments has not been used to treat a large number of patients with the peripheral T-cell lymphoma.  Your participation in this study is expected to last for 18 weeks, the time required to complete a planned six 21-day cycles of treatment.  After you are finished with your treatment, you will be followed for follow-up exams at least every 6 months for up to 3 years.
