About the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda,

Headquarters for clinical research at the National Institutes of
Health (NIH) is the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center in Bethesda,
Maryland. NIH is the federal agency charged with uncovering -- through
basic and clinical research -- new knowledge that will lead to better
health for everyone.
Patients from around the world come to the medical research center
to participate in NIH clinical research studies. NIH physician-scientists
conduct about 1,000 studies each year on many different diseases.
