General Information

Viagra has been approved for the treatment of impotence in men. Based on clinical trials, Pfizer said men should take the pill about an hour prior to a sexual event and that Viagra only works if a man is sexually aroused.

Clinical Results

In clinical trials involving some 3,000 patients, 60 to 80% of those who took the drug reported improvements in the ability to achieve erections and sustain them after penetration, while about 20% of the patients who took a placebo reported improved erections.

Side Effects

Side effects were mostly mild and included headache, indigestion, and occasionally a temporary blue tinge to one's vision.
