The Neurology Group of Bergen County, P.A. is the neurological facility of choice for patients and researchers throughout the New York, New Jersey metropolitan area.

Founded in Ridgewood, New Jersey in 1975 by Doctors Reed Perron and Hugo Lijtmaer, NGBC began as a community facility caring for children, adults and the area's elderly. Specializing in the treatment of brain disorders, spinal cord disease, peripheral nerve & muscle disorders, and pain management, NGBC has provided over 25 years of diagnostic services and care making it an indispensable component to our patients' health.

The mission of NGBC is to continuously provide state-of-the-art neurological care in the setting of a privately owned practice. This is accomplished with: 11 neurologists specializing in epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, neuromuscular disease & neuropathy, Parkinson's disease, childhood disorder, headache, multiple sclerosis, stroke and pain management; a neuro-psychologist experienced in all aspects of psychological conditions and a psychologist specializing in biofeedback therapy administration.

The support staff is comprised of 2 registered nurses and 6 medical technicians. In addition, technicians are on staff for EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, and ultrasound testing.

Our affiliation with The Valley Hospital, Columbia University and private area cardiologists and surgeons provides a network of support services and immediate care.

Clinical Research is an important part of NGBC. The department operates under the direction Kenneth A. Levin, MD, Principal Investigator and Director of Clinical Research. Participation in any research study is approved by Dr. Levin.

NGBC is comprised of both Adult Neurology and Pediatric Neurology wings with outpatient services in biofeedback and neuro-psychological testing. The practice has 12 examining rooms, locked drug storage, centrifuge and freezer (-20°C). 12 lead EKG and outpatient EEG/EMG, Evoked Potentials, and ultrasound within our 16,000 sq. ft. facility.

NGBC is centrally located in Bergen County, New Jersey, 20 miles from NYC and easily accessible via the Garden State Parkway, Routes 80, 4, 17 and the Turnpike. We are within 25 minutes from Newark Airport and the NJ/NY Port Authority Bus and Train Service.

Kenneth A. Levin, MD, the Director, is board certified by the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Academy of Pain Management. He has over 18 years experience in private practice and clinical trial research. He is a member of the National Headache Foundation, American Heart Association Stroke Council, American Academy of Pain Management and the Movement Disorder Society. Dr. Levin is Director of The Valley Hospital Stroke Center and Senior Affiliate Physican to Columbia University, NYC. He has most recently authored Intravenous Ancrod for Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke, The STAT Study: A Randomized Controlled Trial. JAMA, May 10, 2000.
