Center Overview

Potomac Grove Clinical Research Center operates in partnership with Potomac Grove Psychiatry, which is a large private community practice offering a wide range of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic services A major advantage of this partnership is that that we can offer our patients the opportunity to participate in innovative clinical trials for the treatment of depression, anxiety, sexual functioning and attention problems – at no cost to them. Our mission at Potomac Grove Clinical Research is to provide high quality care while contributing to the advancement of knowledge about psychopharmacologic interventions. We have developed a careful and selective screening process that enables us to select suitable candidates for our trials who are reliable, appropriate and committed to the clinical trial process. This enables us to have a high success rate at both enrolling and randomizing research subjects.

Facility Description

Our office space is accommodating and friendly for patients. Our clinical staff is certified and has extensive clinical trial experience. Our research suite includes a reception area, a designated examination room; as well as two patient interview rooms. We also have double locked drug cabinets and temperature monitored storage areas. We, also, partner with a nearby laboratory facility and primary care practice group.

We are conveniently located in Gaithersburg Maryland in the center of Montgomery County and accessible to patients in DC, Maryland and Virginia. We are metro and public transportation accessible, convenient to major area highways and we provide free parking.

Investigator Experience

Louis Kopolow, MD is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is director of Potomac Grove Clincal Research Center. Dr. Kopolow is a Distinguished Life Fellows of the American Psychiatric Association and elected member of the American College of Psychiatrists. He has served on board of directors for the Washington Psychiatric Association and was president of the Suburban Maryland Psychiatric Association for 8 years.

Since 1997, he has conducted over 16 clinical trials in the areas of Major Depressive Disorder, Treatment- Resistant Depression, Sexual Dysfunction, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Cardiovascular Safety , Cognitive Functioning, Alzheimer’s Disease , and Late-Life Depression.

Potomac Grove Clinical Research Center utilizes a central IRB. This allows us to begin new studies quickly and with ease.
