Clinical Research of West Florida, Inc. ("CRWF") provides improved and innovative healthcare opportunities to residents of the Tampa Bay area through clinical research studies. CRWF works with board certified/ eligible community-based physicians to conduct Phase I - IV clinical research trials.

Clinical Research Experience

CRWF is a family owned independent research organization founded in 1995. With multiple offices located in Clearwater and Tampa, CRWF is an industry leader in the field of clinical research. The company has facilitated more than 1000 Phase I-IV research studies in various therapeutic areas.

CRWF is dedicated to providing excellent patient care and our studies are conducted by board certified/eligible physicians along with an experienced, highly trained clinical staff. Our offices have full time board certified Nurse Practitioners on site in addition to the many board certified Clinical Research Coordinators.

Facility Description

Clinical Research of West Florida's Clearwater office is located in an 8,000 square foot handicap accessible facility. The research center is within five miles of three major hospitals, easily accessible from Interstate 75, and 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport.

  • 6 Patient exam rooms including two spirometry rooms and an infusion room

  • Comfortable patient waiting area with TV
  • Patient lounge for extended visits furnished with recliners, TV, water cooler, coffee maker and private bathroom

  • Coordinator area with restricted access
  • Private monitoring rooms with telephone and internet access
  • Remote Data Entry capabilities and experience
  • High speed 24 hour fax on a dedicated line
  • Comprehensive telephone system with voice mail and 24/7 response from a staff member
  • Completely wired for Internet and E-mail access
  • Networked laptop computers at each staff member’s desk with automated daily backup
  • Television, CD/DVD player for patient education/entertainment
  • On-site and off-site archiving

Clinical Research of West Florida's Tampa office is located in a 4,200 sq ft., handicap accessible facility, fifteen minutes from St. Joseph’s Hospital in the heart of the city. The research center is located fifteen minutes from Tampa International Airport.

Clinical Research of West Florida’s Phase I facility is located just down the street from our Clearwater office. The Phase I facility is a 6 bed unit which meets all Phase I compliance requirements. There is capability for 24/7 staffing with physician coverage Monday through Friday by the CRWF Medical Director, plus additional after hours physician coverage as needed. Clinical staff is comprised of fully qualified, experienced coordinators with ACLS certification. In addition to our physician coverage, there is 24/7 nurse practitioner availability for oversight and patient assessments.

Staff Expertise

All study coordinators are trained and/or certified in GCP/ICH compliance, CRC role and responsibilities, Human Subject Protection, HAZMAT (shipping and handling of dangerous goods) and CPR. Staff capabilities include: ECG, Blood pressure (certification for Holter and ambulatory monitoring), Siprometry, PFTs, Inhalation therapy, IV infusion, PK sampling, Phlebotomy, Continuous glucose monitoring, Dietary counseling, Patient education, Pain assessments and evaluations (WOMAC, NRS, OOWS), Joint assessments, Psychiatric ratings (KBIT, CDRS, CYBOCS, KSADA, MINI, HADS, HAM-D), Gram stains (sputum), H. Pylori flexure testings, Skin debridement (pressure ulcers), Wound dressing, DXA scan, and X-Ray.

Patient Demographics

Patient recruitment is facilitated through our proprietary patient database, investigator(s)’ private practice, non-investigator physician referrals, liaisons with community services, and through radio, newspaper and television advertising when appropriate. CRWF has also begun to utilize recruitment through Facebook and Twitter. There are more than 2 million people living in the Tampa Bay area. The population is ethnically diverse and median age is 44 years for Pinellas County and 36 years for Hillsborough County.
