Center Overview

Clinical Pharmacology of Miami, Inc (CPMI), is a Florida corporation founded by three principals, Stacy C. Dilzer, RN, BSN (president), Kenneth C. Lasseter, M.D. (vice-president & medical director), and E. Cooper Shamblen (chief executive officer).

CPMI is an independent, private corporation founded to provide high quality clinical pharmacology research for sponsors who require these services. We have the experience, expertise and facility to conduct safe, precise, well controlled clinical research with new and existing drugs.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to perform safe, precise and scientifically valid clinical research studies, applying our experience, education, skills and integrity.

Clinical Research Experience

The idea for Clinical Pharmacology of Miami, Inc (CPMI), was spawned from the real need for a high quality clinical pharmacology research unit. Kenneth C. Lasseter, M.D., Stacy C. Dilzer, R.N., BSN, and E. Cooper Shamblen, have a combined 90+ years of research experience and have conducted over 1200 clinical studies. Dr. Lasseter has published over 250 articles and abstracts in the area of clinical pharmacology, reporting the work that they have done. Dr. Lasseter truly has a national and international reputation as an outstanding clinical pharmacologist and principal investigator.

Facility Description

The CPMI research unit and location was very carefully considered. Our facility was meticulously custom designed and constructed, employing all the knowledge of our experience. We are convinced that our fresh, new 120 bed research unit is “state-of-the-art”. We are equipped with the experience, expertise and the research unit facility to meet the individual needs of each sponsor and research protocol.

The CPMI 28,000 square foot facility is not a hospital, it is not a hotel, it is not an ICU, but it is a custom designed clinical pharmacology research unit.

CPMI is equipped with spacious accommodations including:

  • Screening department / interview / exam rooms / prescreening lab & more
  • Out-patient department
  • Secure, alarm monitored pk sample processing laboratory

The CPMI clinical research unit location was very carefully considered. The location was chosen to ensure convenience and ease of travel for the volunteers, staff, and sponsors. Emphasis was placed on our location to minimize “travel time”.

Our location is conveniently located to both Miami International Airport (20 minutes) and Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (30 minutes). Don Shula’s hotel and golf club, located on Main Street in Miami lakes, is only 5 minutes from the research site. This hotel is especially designed to accommodate business travelers with high-speed internet access in every room, a 24 hour business center, a world class spa, gym and a cyber cafe. Along Main Street there are 2 salons, 10 restaurants, over 30 shops and a multiplex theatre with 17 screens. There is also a Courtyard Marriott and several other hotels in the area. South beach and the hotels on the beaches are also available with a slightly longer drive.
