California Neuroscience Research is a specialized Central Nervous System (CNS) clinical trial site founded by Dr. Tom Shiovitz, an experienced researcher and board-certified psychiatrist.

California Neuroscience Research's primary focus is on high quality outpatient studies and small, CNS proof-of-concept studies.

Facility Description

California Neuroscience Research is located adjacent to Sherman Oaks Hospital in a beautiful northern suburb of Los Angeles, CA. It has convenient validated parking and is easily accessible by car or public transportation. Sherman Oaks Hospital is a medical/surgery hospital with an 18 bed inpatient geropsychiatric unit. The hospital also has laboratory, radiology, and CT/MRI facilities.

  • Refrigerated centrifuge
  • 4 exam/interview rooms
  • Comfortable waiting area
  • Double-locked drug storage area

Investigator Experience

Principal Investigator Dr. Thomas Shiovitz has specialized in CNS research for over 10 years. He has been a Principal Investigator on scores of studies in all phases of development. Indications include: Alzheimer's Disease, Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Shiovitz, former Medical Director of California Clinical Trials Medical Group, has been a subinvestigator on over 100 studies. These results have been published in numerous scientific journals. Dr. Shiovitz has given presentations on Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's Disease and other topics.

Staff Expertise

With over 10 years of research experience each, our Clinical Research Coordinators bring a wealth of clinical trial and ratings experience to California Neuroscience Research. Our Board Certified physicians/investigators work closely with our research coordinators to create a high quality recruitment, data, and research experience for patients and sponsors alike.

California Neuroscience Research is located in Sherman Oaks, California, in the heart of the metropolitan Los Angeles area with a population of over 5 million residents. With its large Hispanic, African American, and Asian populations the Los Angeles area is unparalleled in racial and ethnic diversity.

California Neuroscience Research is affiliated with Sherman Oaks Hospital and uses the local Sherman Oaks Hospital IRB which meets on a monthly basis. Alternatively, California Neuroscience Research can utilize a central IRB.

In addition to standard recruitment methods California Neuroscience Research's marketing and recruitment team utilizes physician referrals, community resources, and targeted phone screening.

California Neuroscience Research uses the latest computer and software technology for patient recruitment, tracking and follow up.
