Center Overview

Women's Health Practice, LLC (WHP), which was founded in 1945, offers comprehensive gynecologic, obstetrics, and wellness care for women, and participates in clinical research studies as a privately contracted entity.

WHP believes in the fundamental right of women to comprehensive health care, including a strong commitment to reproductive choices. WHP provides women with a full range of medical services and health options, promotes the health of the community, and supports a variety of educational programs and materials for the public.

WHP keeps abreast of new technologies and medical advancements, offering state-of-the-art care in a modern facility that has an AAAHC accredited ambulatory surgical center, MidWest Surgical Center LLC, onsite ultrasound, and bone densitometry testing. WHP has Illinois' first Neomatrix Halo Breast Pap Testing Device for detection of precancerous changes of the breast. Outpatient surgical capabilities include general anesthetic gynecologic procedures such as: laparotomy tubal ligation, Essure sterilizations, pelvic floor surgery with mesh repairs, laparoscopy, operative hysteroscopy, laparoscopic technology with digital video imaging and cystoscopy A moderately complex CLIA laboratory is located onsite. Outpatient laboratory and MRI services are located within the office campus. Our newest addition, Hada Cosmetic Medicine, LLC, located in downtown Champaign, IL, offers services including skin cancer prevention, acne treatments, skin renewal, and laser therapies as well as medical grade skin treatments. Hada also offers the latest in non-surgical technology and treatments such as injectable fillers and Botox therapy.

WHP has developed a modern research center. The research center consists of a locked chart storage area, staff meeting areas, private offices for monitoring visits equipped with high-speed internet access, electronic medical record access, and offices for coordinators, regulatory, and recruitment staff. Research staff is HIPPA trained, CCRC and IATA certified and have received GCP and Human Research Participant Protection training. WHP research staff is ACRP certified with years of experience with clinical trials.

Women's Health Practice is located in the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana, a dynamic university-based community. It is the home of the University of Illinois and Parkland Community College. In the surrounding area we have over a dozen universities and community colleges that we draw on for study protocols. Situated in East Central Illinois, with an approximate population of 175,000, Champaign-Urbana is located 2.5 hours south of Chicago, 2 hours west of Indianapolis, and 3 hours northeast of St. Louis via interstates I-57, I-72, and I-74 access. WHP is on city transportation lines, and is located approximately 3 miles from University of Illinois Willard Airport and 2 miles from the Amtrak station. The Bloomington-Normal airport (BMI) is only 50 miles away and offers direct flights to many major cities as the central Illinois hub.

Health care options in Champaign County include two full-service hospitals, Carle Foundation Hospital and Provena-Covenant Medical Center; both are located in Urbana and are less than 4 miles from WHP. Carle Foundation Hospital is one of three hospitals in Illinois south of the Chicago-land area in Illinois to earn the distinction of a Level I Trauma Center. Provena-Covenant is a Level II Trauma Center. Carle Foundation Hospital also offers Level III perinatal services. These state-of-the-art facilities in the Champaign-Urbana area and the unique services provided by Women’s Health Practice, draws patients from a five state area.
