independent, clinical urology research facility located in Staten
Island, New York. It is the only facility of its kind in the area.
The Medical Director is Ron S. Israeli, M.D., F.A.C.S., a
board-certified academic urologist with extensive clinical and

center is staffed by two fellowship-trained urologists and a
fellowship-trained uro-gynecologist. Fields of interest represented
by these investigators include Urologic Oncology, Impotence,
Infertility, BPH, Incontinence, and Kidney Stone Disease and
others. Finally, in addition to the clerical staff, the center
employs several full-time Physician Assistant clinical research
coordinators. The intimate relationship between the center and our
large and broad-based academic and private urology clinical
practice enables easy access to an enormous database of potential
urology patients spanning all diagnoses and demographic groups. Our
group has an extensive clinical research experience in all areas of
urology, especially benign prostate disease, prostate cancer,
bladder cancer, prostatitis, impotence, infertility, incontinence,
and urologic infections. We have established and maintained
excellent relationships with many of the leading pharmaceutical and
biotechnology companies in the field and are committed to bringing
the latest and most exciting new research developments in the field
of urology to our region.
Our center is comprised of expert physicians with extensive
clinical and basic laboratory research, both in private practice as
well as in some of the leading academic centers in the world
including Johns Hopkins University, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center, Cornell University Medical College, Boston University,
Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the Mt. Sinai School of
Medicine. Dr. Israeli has over 60 published works in urology, and
holds several patents related to urological discoveries. He
lectures extensively and serves as a reviewer for several urologic
journals. Dr. Minkowitz has published and lectured extensively on
numerous subjects, and has received several coveted research awards
in her field. Dr. Katlowitz is a well-known expert in erectile
dysfunction and Infertility. He lectures regularly for Pfizer on
treatment options for Male Sexual Dysfunction. Dr. Gil Levy is a
fellowship-trained uro-gynecologist and serves as Director of
Urogynecology/Female Pelvic Medicine at both Staten Island
University Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Levy is well published in the field and has received numerous
distinguished awards. He has a special interest in the development
of new technologies for the treatment of incontinence.
Our center is relatively new as a formal research entity, but
our collective experience has and will serve us well. We have been
involved to date in clinical trials investigating new medications
for impotence, chronic prostatitis, pre-malignant prostate disease,
urinary retention, incontinence, prostate cancer, kidney cancer,
and other areas.
Our research center is located in Staten Island, NY in a large,
new modern dedicated office facility. The site is easily accessible
by all forms of transportation and offers ample parking. The office
is in close proximity to both Newark Liberty and JFK International
airports. Modern, handicapped-accessible outpatient facilities are
offered at our research center. These include a networked computer
system with high speed internet service, phlebotomy services, IV
infusions, secure drug storage, centrifuges, dry ice, dedicated
4°C refrigerator, -20°C freezer, -80°C
freezer, urinalysis laboratory, abdominal and rectal ultrasound,

Our staff includes 3 highly experienced Urology Physician’s
Assistants serving as research coordinators, a physician research
fellow (fully trained urologist), and clerical staff.
Staten Island is a unique location, positioned between Brooklyn
and New Jersey. Our own borough has a diverse population of over
500,000 people. In addition, we attract large numbers of patients
from surrounding areas, including New Jersey, Brooklyn, Manhattan,
Queens, and other areas. Part of this attraction is the interest in
the numerous, well advertised specialty programs offered by our
principal hospital affiliation, Staten Island University Hospital,
a major regional cancer center.
We generally submit our trials to a central IRB for approval and
have not presently contracted with any site management
organizations.
