The Columbus Center for Women's Health Research is an
independent research center associated with Portman Obstetrics and
Gynecology Associates, Inc. We are dedicated to bringing the latest
opportunities in medical advances to women of central Ohio. Our
experienced site integrates an established, well-respected private
practice with a state of the art research center, focused on the
diagnosis and treatment of health issues unique and common to
women.
Our research center has been conducting phase II-IV trials since
1997. We have worked on nearly 70 clinical trials with numerous
pharmaceutical companies including:

The Columbus Center for Women's Health Research is located
on the east side of Columbus, Ohio near the campus of Mount Carmel
East Hospital. Our research center is a private freestanding
institution, but we have access to all of the hospital facilities
including: mammography, bone densitometry, and spinal
radiography.
Our center is located on the first floor of a beautiful, new
office building which includes a waiting room, reception area, 5
exam rooms, private interviewing areas, a procedure room with a
vaginal ultrasound and endometrial biopsy suite, and a lab draw
room with centrifuges and freezers, a locked storage room,
coordinator work areas, a reserved monitor's desk, as well as
ample storage space.
Our location is very well-situated, right off of I-270 and Broad
Street, only minutes from the Columbus Airport, with plenty of
available free parking. The site is also on main bus lines.
David J. Portman, MD
Dr. Portman is in the private practice
of Obstetrics and Gynecology with Portman OB/GYN and is the
Principal Investigator at the Columbus Center for Women's
Health Research. In addition he is the Director of the Menopause
Center of Columbus and is a Clinical Instructor at Ohio State
University. Dr. Portman received a BA from Northwestern University
and an MD from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He
trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Ohio State University
Hospitals. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists, Board certified by the American board of OB/GYN,
a member of the North American Menopause Society and a member of
the International Menopause Society.
Dr. Portman founded the Columbus Center for Women's Health
Research in 1997 and since then has been conducting many clinical
studies in hormone therapy, osteoporosis, contraception, endocrine
and heart disease and other issues pertaining to OB/GYN. In
addition, he is recognized as one of the country's leading
experts in menopause and the treatment options available to women
today. He has lectured extensively around the country on this and
related talks, and consults widely on issues related to Women's
Health.
Our Research Center is staffed with Clinical Research Coordinators who are either registered nurses or have strong medical background experience. All Clinical Coordinators are well trained in GCP’s. We a have a phlebotomist on staff and a Budgets and Regulatory Specialist.
