Wetlin Research Associates, Inc. is a California based
corporation founded by Bernard Michlin, MD, in 1998 with the sole
purpose of providing quality research to the pharmaceutical
industry, as well as, allowing patients to benefit from the
no-cost, cutting-edge advances in pharmacological therapies. We
provide outpatient clinical trials. To help meet our
patients’ needs, we begin seeing patients at 5:30 A.M. and
frequently hold office visits on Saturdays. Our research center is
located in a multi-specialty private practice with more than
adequate dedicated research facilities. Our most important goal has
been to improve the quality of research performance and data
collection, while bringing numerous investigators under one roof to
provide a diversity of research potential and an increase in
potential subject population for any given protocol. Since our
inception, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide a 24-hour
turnaround on regulatory documents, as well as, a decision on our
ability to perform a given protocol within 2 days after being
contacted by a pharmaceutical company. Our patient database allows
us to perform a criteria specific search and provide an honest
answer as to whether we feel we can meet the enrollment objectives
or not. If I do not feel we can adequately meet the enrollment
goals of a protocol, I will not accept the protocol. As we are an
independent entity, we can use a central IRB.
Wetlin Research Associates, Inc. focuses primarily on the Phase
II, III, and IV studies.

Wetlin Research Associates, Inc. is located within a
multi-specialty private practice with its own dedicated research
facilities. This area provides locked storage for each individual
study, as well as, individual drug storage. We have a dedicated
refrigerator 2-8 degrees centigrade, a -20 degree centigrade
freezer, laboratory processing area with centrifuge and other lab
equipment, pulmonary function testing, pulse-oximetry, cardiac
stress testing, holter monitoring, stationary ECG, and DEXA bone
densitometry. As previously noted, we also have all patients in
this practice in an electronic database with and/or logic which
allows us to feed any parameters into the database and extract the
exact number of subjects we have available for any given protocol
parameters. The other physicians within our research group vary as
to whether they use electronic or paper charting.
We are located within the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center
complex which houses over 200 physicians, and is within 2 blocks of
Alvarado Hospital which has a 24 hour Emergency Department.

multi-specialty group practice, as well as, our affiliated
physicians. The area of San Diego County has approximately 3
million individuals with the following breakdown in ethnicity: 60 %
Caucasian, 30 % Hispanic, 5% Asian and 5% African-American.
