Center Overview

Suburban Research Associates is devoted to providing individualized care and treatment to our patients. We offer patients the alternative of new advanced treatments while helping the medical research field develop and grow. Our focus is on research for new drugs in the approval process or for medications that are already marketed.

All of our studies are FDA approved and participation is on a voluntary basis. Each patient is carefully evaluated and monitored to ensure the highest quality of care. At the completion of the study, patients may choose to use our aftercare services which usually include around 3 additional months of medication management by our psychiatrist, including medication samples.

We are conveniently located in the suburbs of Philadelphia in the Chesley Office Campus. Our site offers plenty of free parking with immediate access to I- 476, I- 95, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and public transportation. We specialize in psychiatry and have conducted over 120 clinical trials since 1999.

Clinical Research Experience

Suburban Research Associates consists of 3 Board-Certified Psychiatrists, as well as 3 Clinical Research Coordinators. We employ a full-time Marketing Director, a Regulatory Specialist, and a master’s level Clinical Research Site Manager. All of our staff members are trained in Good Clinical Practice to ensure ethical and compliant conduct in clinical trials. Investigator Experience

SRA employs three board certified psychiatrists.

Shivkumar Hatti, MD
Dr. Shivkumar Hatti is a board certified General Adult Psychiatrist and has been practicing in Media, a suburb of Philadelphia, for the past 28 years. He divides his professional time in clinical practice, pharmaceutical research, and administrative consultations. As the C.E.O. of Suburban Research Associates, Dr. Hatti has been the Principal Investigator on over 100 studies.

Dr. Hatti graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in Mumbai, India, and completed his psychiatric residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor. He is the founding member and President of the tristate chapter (SE PA, DE and NJ) of the Indo-American Psychiatric Association (IAPA) and President of the national chapter. He is also the Immediate Past President of the American Association of Psychiatric Administrators (AAPA) and the Philadelphia Psychiatric Society. Dr. Hatti was the 2010 recipient of the NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award.

Sudha Nair, MD
Dr. Sudha Nair has worked at Suburban Research Associates since 2009 and has been the Sub Investigator on several clinical trials in the past 3 years. In addition, she has a private practice in Wayne, PA. She also works part time at a community mental health center in West Philadelphia where she treats adults with mild to severe psychiatric illnesses and where she has a speciality clinic for pregnant and postpartum women with mental health issues.

Dr. Nair graduated from medical school in Mumbai, India. She obtained a Masters in Public Health from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. She then completed her residency in Psychiatry from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in community mental health centers, residential programs and in ACT teams in the past.
