Center Overview

Founded in 1984, Apex Research Institute (formerly Anaheim Heart and Research Institute) is an independent research facility utilizing services of central and base IRBs and laboratories for Phase II, III, and IV clinical trials. For inpatient trials, we have a large community hospital next door to our office.

Our 3500 square foot facility can be found next to Western Medical Center, SA, CA, conveniently located 15 minutes from John Wayne airport and minutes away from the 5, 22, and 55 freeways.

Investigator Experience

N. Charles Morcos, M.D., Ph.D. F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P., is board certified in Internal Medicine and is Board eligible in Cardiology with over 20 years of private practice and clinical research experience.

Eric R. Ross, M.D., is board certified in Internal Medicine with over 20 years of private practice experience and has been involved in clinical research since 1999. He has a certification in travel medicine and specializes in vaccines.

John G. Duffy, M.D.,is a board certified in Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry who has been involved in clinical research in areas such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia for 6 years.

Kenneth Rich, M.D., M.S., has been an Emergency Room physician for 16 years and has been involved with clinical research for 1 year.

Vince Afsahi M.D., is board certified in Dermatology.

Paul Sarode M.D., is certified in Pediatrics and Critical Care.

Patient Demographics

The center maintains a database of over 11,000 research volunteers. In addition, the center has access to databases of over 40,000 patients from three private practices. We have a diverse patient population including Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, and many other nationalities.
