Center Overview

IMA Research is a physician-owned, multi-site research company specializing in Phase II, III and IV studies in all primary care disciplines. Co-located within each of our facilities is an affiliated medical evaluation practice whose daily intake of new patients results in an extensive, targeted recruitment base, providing a ready supply of subjects for clinical trials. IMA Research has locations throughout Florida, New York and Ohio.

Clinical Research Experience

David C. Pulver, MD, Director of Clinical Research, has extensive experience conducting Phase II, III and IV trials. Dr. Pulver has been the PI on over 40 studies in numerous primary care disciplines including gout, influenza, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, arthritis, and pain,

All IMA Research PI’s have been involved in clinical trials throughout their career.

ADMINISTRATION

David C. Pulver, MD, Director of Clinical Research, is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Pulver has been a Principal Investigator for over 5 years, having overseen more than 40 clinical trials during that time. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at New York Medical College.

Mark I. Weinberger, PhD, MPH, Associate Director of Clinical Research, is a licensed clinical psychologist and psychiatric epidemiologist who joined IMA in 2011. Dr. Weinberger received his Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and completed his internship and postdoctoral training at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Weinberger also holds an MPH degree in epidemiology. Dr. Weinberger is Clinical Instructor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and Lecturer in the School of Public Health at New York Medical College.

Anthony Scheckton, Director of Operations, oversees the day to day operations, working closely with each clinical site to manage data collection, entry and storage. He is responsible for ensuring efficient execution of trials within established budgets, timelines and appropriate regulations.

Barbara Young, Vice President of Business Development directs our marketing and sales department and initiates all new lines of business for our company. She plays a vital role in our external patient recruitment efforts, ensuring continued growth of our volunteer database.

Investigator Experience

Michael Pfeffer, MD, Principal Investigator in the Miami office, has been with IMA since 2009. With clinical research experience dating back to 2006, Dr. Pfeffer holds current medical licenses in both Florida and New York. Dr. Pfeffer is a member of the American Academy of Neurology as well as the American Society of Neurorehabilitation.

Teatino Camacho, MD, Principal Investigator in the Miami office, has been with IMA since 2008. Dr. Camacho brings more than 30 years of experience to IMA, having worked in both private practice and hospital settings. He attended medical school at Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic. His residency training was in Family Medicine as the University of Miami and its affiliated hospitals.

Robert Shefsky, MD, Principal Investigator in the St. Petersburg office, has been with IMA since 2009. For two years Dr. Shefsky participated in the PRoFESS (Prevention Regimen for Effectively avoiding Second Strokes) clinical trial, the world's largest clinical research study for secondary stroke prevention. He attended medical school at Rutgers in New Jersey and also has a MPH in Occupational Health and Environmental Health from the University of South Florida in Tampa. His residency training took place at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia as well as the University of South Florida.

Gerald Fruchter, MD, Principal Investigator in the Kew Gardens office,joined IMA in 2012. He is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist, credited with more than 50 papers and abstracts on gastroenterology. Dr. Fruchter also has experience as a Principal Investigator, having participated in studies throughout his career. His associations include the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology , American Gastroenterology Association and the Brooklyn Gastroenterology Association.

Clinical Research Coordinators:

Luis Estevez is responsible for the oversight of all clinical and research activities in our Miami office. Mr. Estevez helps coordinate our ongoing studies including IRB paperwork, patient visits and recruitment. He brings more than 8 years of experience in the medical field to IMA. Mr. Estevez served in the US Army from 2002-2005.

Jennifer Wu, Clinical Research Coordinator, joined IMA in 2012. Jennifer has more than 6 years of experience in the medical field working in private medical practices and 8 years of oncology clinical trials research experience working at medical and cancer institutions. Jennifer is responsible for all research study related activities at our Queens, New York site, coordinating participant recruitment, administration, development and review of SOPs and SWPs, as well as performing other study related activities.

Myrna Valbuena-Littlewort has a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration and has completed the course work for her doctoral degree in Public Health, major in Epidemiology, pending dissertation. She has 15 years experience in Research & Development in multiple therapeutic disciplines and has been involved with the start-ups of two research institutions in New York City. Her Masters thesis, "What are the Similarities and Differences between Health Care Delivery System in the European Union and in the America" was based on observations in hospital and health services in Belgium, Germany and France. She also co-authored "Serotonin as a Marker in Decompensated Systolic Heart Failure" with Ahmed Selim, Ronald Zolty, Norma Christian, Catherine Galvin, et.al., which was published in the Journal of Cardiac Failure in 2010.
