Kidney Care Associates, LLC (KCA) originated from Augusta, GA in 2005 as an independent clinical research site. KCA conducts clinical trials involving subjects with Chronic Kidney Disease, End Stage Renal Disease (including dialysis vascular access), and primarily Internal Medicine problems. KCA consistently meets or exceeds enrollment goals for clinical trials. KCA strives to provide accurate/query free data for our sponsors. Patient safety is always our primary goal.

KCA has the ability to use a central IRB. KCA is located at 815 12th Street in Augusta, GA and within one mile of University Hospital and the private Nephrology practice of our investigators.
Mark Smith, MD serves as the managing partner for Kidney Care Associates, LLC which is owned and operated by Nephrology Associates, PC (NAPC). Dr Smith is boarded in Nephrology and Internal Medicine, and one of 10 licensed providers (7 physicians and 3 mid-levels) in NAPC. He is clinically trained in renal ultrasonography interpretation. He has been active in clinical research 1987. Dr Smith has served as Principal Investigator or Sub Investigator for 50+ clinical trials. He has authored several audio visual publications, abstracts, and presentations. Dr Smith is a Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) by ACRP since 2007.
Don Williamson, MD is the managing partner at NAPC, and boarded in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He has many years investigative and clinical experience, and has served various leadership positions both locally and nationally (current Co-Medical Director, American Renal Associates).
Clay Wilson, MD is boarded in Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Nephrology. He has recognized both locally and nationally as a "Best Doctor", serves in leadership and both Principal and Sub-Investigator experience.
Barton Brezina , MD is boarded in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He has investigative experience as both a Principal and Sub-Investigator and is NIH PI certified.

KCA patient population consists of primarily of 8000+ patients treated in our Investigators private practices and affiliated dialysis centers. KCA partners with all specialty providers when appropriate.
