The Medical Center of Plano (TMCP) is a small, for-profit, non-community Trauma II hospital. TMCP is a 427-bed acute care hospital providing inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care services. Our main healthcare services encompass 5 key service lines: cardiovascular, neurosciences, surgery, women’s, and oncology. TMCA is also a Level Ill state trauma designated site. TMCP has 36 intensive care unit (ICU) beds. Currently TMCP does not have an antimicrobial stewardship program, however, discussions are in progress regarding developing a stewardship program with plans to implement one in the future. Many components of the stewardship program are in place, including IV to PO conversion, renal dosing, pharmacodynamic dosing and formulary streamlining. A multidisciplinary team formulated a successful sepsis program producing superior patient outcomes. TMCP sepsis data has been published in a number of articles and won Best Practice Award at American Society of Health-System Pharmacy convention. In addition TMCP does have an infection control program. There are more than 450 nurses full-time, part-time, and prn on staff.
