Our Principal Investigator's have been conducting clinical trials since 1997. We have two Internists, Dr. Christopher Alftine and Dr. E. Clark Cullen, and a Neurologist, Dr. Oscar Sanchez. We have conducted studies for multiple indications as listed below.

Our facilities include five exam rooms, two monitor meeting rooms with high speed internet access, secure drug room and on-site lab processing.
Our study participants enjoy our comfortable accommodations which include a television nook, quiet reading corner, inviting lobby fireplace, coffee, tea, and fresh fruit.
We are located just minutes from the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport. Rental cars and taxis are readily accessible from the airport. We offer public transportation assistance to our study participants in need of this service.

Dr Alftine is Partner/Owner of Sunstone Medical Research.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, he earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1998. He is also a Partner/Owner of Medford Medical Clinic LLP where he has practiced Internal Medicine since 2000.
Dr. Alftine has been a Principal Investigator since 2000, during which time he has gained extensive clinical trial experience having worked on almost 200 studies, with a focus in the areas of Pain Management, Low Back Pain, Osteoarthritis, Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Opioid Induced Constipation, Diabetes and Addiction.
Dr. Cullen is Partner/Owner of Sunstone Medical Research.
Board certified in Internal Medicine; he earned his medical degree from U.C. San Diego in 1982. Currently he is a Partner/Owner of Medford Medical Clinic LLP, where he has practiced Internal Medicine since 1999.
Dr Cullen has been a principal investigator since 1997. Dr. Cullen has extensive trial experience having worked on almost 200 studies, with a focus in the areas of in COPD, Depression, Diabetes Type l/ll, Hyperlipidemia and Obesity.
Dr. Oscar Sanchez earned his medical degree from the University of Navarre, Spain in 1991. He completed fellowships at the National Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke at the University of Massachusetts where he also completed his neurology residency in 2001.
Dr. Sanchez practices general neurology with emphasis on dementia/research, gait difficulties, and other neurological problems. He has participated in neurological research for over 10 years between the National Institute of Health Universities and private clinics.
Our Investigative team also includes:
Bobbie Smith-Ede , earned her degree as a registered Nurse in 1998 from Oregon Health Sciences, and her Nurse Practitioner’s license in 2002 from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomano, CA. She currently practices with Medford Medical Clinic, LLP. She has been an active Sub-Investigator for Clinical Trials since 2006 in the following indications: Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes Type ll/l, Obesity, Gastroenterology, COPD, Pain Management, Low Back Pain, Osteoarthritis, Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Opioid-Induced Constipation, and Depression.
Dr. Dan Fennell , earned his medical degree in 1980 from the University of Colorado Health Science Center where he also completed his internship and residency. Since 1990 he has practiced as an Internist at Pulmonary Consultants and Sleep Specialists, a private practice specializing in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care, Internal Medicine and Sleep Disorders. Dr. Fennell has conducted Research Studies since 2005, with a focus on Respiratory studies.
Dr. Alan Palamara , is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine of New Jersey and residency from Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Palamara maintains a gynecologic practice and has conducted over 30 trials since 2002 in many areas of Women's Health.
Deidre Goldberg, FNP , received her masters in 1988. She has always had an avid interest in medical research and has been involved in various clinical trials from 1997 to present. In additional to being a Sub-Investigator at Sunstone Medical Research, she teaches health education at SOU and is a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner.
Our staff at Sunstone Medical Research, LLC, consists of ACRP certified study coordinators, an onsite Regulatory Specialist, a Patient Recruitment/Retention Specialist, and a Database Entry/Administrative assistant.
We strive to produce high-quality, clean, data. We turn Regulatory Packages around in 3 business days. Budgets and Contracts are processed/negotiated within one week of receipt.

Medford is located in Jackson County Oregon with the city’s population over 66,000 and the county over 187,000. With the addition of over 5,000 students attending the University of Southern Oregon and a population of over 150,000 in outlining areas. Medford is home to 2 major medical centers: Providence Medical Center and Asante Health Systems-Rogue Valley Medical Center. As a result, Medford is the hub of the medical industry in all Southern Oregon.
