Associates in Ophthalmology
Associates in Ophthalmology (AIO), is an eye surgical practice
providing quality eye care for over a century in southwestern
Pennsylvania. AIO provides patients with excellent eye care
services, using state-of-the-art technology. The Pittsburgh area
eye surgeons (eye doctors), are board certified and fellowship
trained in their specific areas of expertise. Our surgeons
specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of cataracts, diseases of
the cornea, retina (including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic eye
care, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, flashes and
floaters), glaucoma and Vision Correction Surgery (CustomCornea®
Lasik).
Our company has conducted many different types of clinical trial
studies related to eye diseases and disorders.
The Research Department has been participating in clinical trial
studies since 2003.

Our full-time research department is located in the West Mifflin
office. We have 3 experienced Full-Time research personnel as well
as a Full-Time Manager of Research and Development.
We have 18 examination rooms which are capable and equipped for
full examinations.

Associates in Ophthalmology have seven Board Certified
Ophthalmologists as well as eight Optometrist. Most of whom
participated in the research studies listed above.
Daniel V. Zimmer, MD, FACS is a board
certified, fellowship trained cornea and refractive surgeon.
Brian H. Jewart, MD is a board certified,
fellowship trained vitreo-retinal surgeon.
Lisa M. Cibik, MD, FACS is the Director of
Cataract Services at Associates in Ophthalmology.She is a board
certified surgeon.
Miguel A. Busquets, MD, FACS is a board
certified, fellowship trained vitreo-retinal surgeon.
John P. Nairn, MD is a board certified,
fellowship trained glaucoma specialist.
Martin A. Boscarino, MD., is a board certified,
fellowship trained vitreo-retinal surgeon.
Dr. Santora, MD is a board-certified
ophthalmologist.
All the members of our research department have experience
working with sponsors and monitors. All of the members are or will
be in the process of becoming certified as coordinators.

Our patient demographics are diverse in terms of socioeconomic
and ethnicity backgrounds.
We treat patients ranging from the Greater Pittsburgh areas as
well as the Tri-State Region.
We use a central IRB, as well as the IRB of the sponsors
