Center Overview

Keystone Clinical Studies (KCS), is a small, privately owned and operated clinical research site, dedicated to serving the needs of our patient community and sponsor community.

We are located conveniently in Norristown, just outside the city of Philadelphia and can be reached by public transportation.

Clinical Research Experience

We are a dedicated clinical research site and our staff is fully trained to conduct clinical trials while meeting the highest ethical and professional standards.

We conduct trials in the CNS area, including Alzehimer’s Disease, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Schizophrenia (Acute, Stable, Negative Symptoms).

Sponsors we have worked for include Astra Zeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, Cephalon, Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma, J&J, Lilly, Merck, Otsuka, Pfizer, Roche/Genentech, Sanofi-Aventis, Wyeth

CROs we have worked with include: Constella Group, INC, I3 Research, K-Force, PPD, Quintiles

Dr. Cherian Verghese, our Principal Investigator, has been conducting clinical research for the past 18 years. KCS has been conducting research as an independent research site since 2003.

Facility Description

Our offices are well laid out to conduct clinical trials in Psychiatry. We have a pleasant patient waiting area, several exam rooms, monitor rooms, lab area, and dedicated drug storage room, as well as a document storage room. We also have all the requisite equipment to conduct CNS studies such as Freezers, Centrifuges, EKG machines, weighing scales (calibrated as required). We are also fully set up in terms of office and communications systems (copiers, computers, phone, fax, voicemail, as well as Broadband Internet connections in all our offices).

For conducting in-patient studies, we have worked with local hospitals like Valley Forge Medical Center & Hospital, and Montgomery Hospital, which are located within 5 miles of our new offices at 2460 General Armistead Ave, Norristown.

Investigator Experience

Our Principal Investigator is Dr. Cherian Verghese. He is a Board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.

He has 20 years experience in clinical research and is one of the few psychiatrists in the country who is also a Certified Physician Investigator.

Patient Demographics

Our patients are recruited from among the 4 million plus residents of the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. We also draw patients from surrounding towns through community outreach, relationships with patient advocacy groups, local healthcare facilities, personal care residences, senior centers and physicians (Family practice, Neurology and Psychiatry).

Other Information

We work with the Central IRB for most of our out-patient studies.

We have also worked with the local IRB (local hospitals) for some in-patient studies.
