Avastra Clinical Trials, West Seneca, has all the necessary equipment for conducting clinical trials including: exam rooms, -20 freezer, centrifuge, high-speed internet, ample secure storage for record and drug, monitoring space, and a 24-hour answering service. The facility offers a home-like setting for inpatient sleep studies with four comfortable bedrooms that utilize state of the art monitoring equipment.
Milton K. Erman, M.D.
Dr. Milton Erman (M.D., New York University, 1975) is Chief Medical Officer of Avastra Clinical Trials and a member of Scripps Clinical Medical Group (La Jolla). As a Board-Certified psychiatrist with a sub-specialty board in Sleep Medicine, Dr. Erman has been involved in the Sleep Medicine field since the early 1970’s. He was the Director of the Sleep Disorders Center of the University of Texas. More recently, he was the Head of the Division of Sleep Medicine at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. He has served as the national chairperson for the Sleep Center Accreditation Committee and as the Executive Secretary/Treasurer of the American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA). Dr. Erman has presented hundreds of invited lectures at universities and to medical societies in Asia, Europe, and Central America. He continues to make frequent lectures at Grand Rounds and to professional associations. Dr. Erman’s clinical interests and expertise are: insomnia, circadian rhythm disturbances, and parasomnias in childhood and young adults.
Daniel Rifkin, M.D.
Dr. Daniel Rifkin (M.D., Dartmouth Medical School, 1992) is a Board Certified in Neurology and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Rifkin established the Sleep Medicine Centers of Western New York and Florida in 1997, a successful private practice and clinical research practice in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Rifkin is now the President of Avastra Eastern Sleep Medicine and a member of the Avastra Clinical Trials group. Dr. Rifkin participated as the principal investigator in over 30 clinical trials and investigator initiated trials and has a team with over 40 years of clinical trial experience. He remains interested in all aspects of sleep medicine and neurology with a special interest in sleep apnea, insomnia, and restless legs syndrome.
