Great Lakes Medical Research is able to draw patients from
Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Located near Routes
5 & 20, and Interstate I-90, potential research subjects have
easy access by car to the research center.
Great Lakes Medical Research is centered in historic downtown
Westfield, New York, in the southwestern-most part of Chautauqua
County. Westfield, New York is approximately 30 miles from both the
cities of Jamestown, New York, and Erie, Pennsylvania, and 20 miles
from the city of Dunkirk, New York.
Great Lakes Medical Research primarily draws research subjects
from its parent company, Westfield Family Physicians. With 17,000+
active patients ranging in ages from newborn to 100 plus years of
age, the family practice offers a diverse population for clinical
trials. Patient demographics at Westfield Family Physicians and
surrounding communities include Native American, Hispanic, African
American and Anglo-Saxon.
Chautauqua County, New York has a stable, somewhat elderly
population with limited access to clinical trials other than those
provided at Great Lakes Medical Research. Past and present research
participants have expressed continued interest in clinical trial
participation and an electronic database affords the ability to
capture this information. Additionally, media initiatives and
community outreach efforts attract potential research subjects to
Great Lakes Medical Research.
