Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater
Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is a 100% gastroenterology practice with three locations and seven physicians. Our physicians are board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and have been participating in clinical research since 1995.
Our Investigators are known for their high caliber work,
research experience, community reputations, and significant patient
databases which ensure timely and easily met enrollment goals and
successfully completed clinical trials.
Our clinical trials are conducted in our Chesapeake location
which is conveniently located within 20 minutes of Norfolk
International Airport.
Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is a proud member of
Tidewater Gastroenterology, PLLC.
Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater has been involved with pharmaceutical research since 1995. We have participated in Phase II through Phase IV trials. We have successfully enrolled and completed over 75 trials.

Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is a private practice
outpatient facility.
We have a full endoscopy unit, where we can perform
colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies, flexible
sigmoidoscopies, M2A endoscopy, pill cam as well as Remicade
infusions.
We have a fully staffed research department including a laboratory and lab processing area. We also have a -20 °c freezer, an ECG machine, a double-locked drug storage area that is temperature controlled. We also have a temperature-controlled refrigerated drug storage area as well as a dedicated space for monitors.
Our Principal Investigators are: Pramod Malik MD, CPI and Walid Makdisi MD
Dr. Malik has been a principal investigator since 2002. In 2008 Dr. Malik received his CPI (Certified Physician Investigator) certification through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
Dr. Makdisi has been a principal investigator since 2006

We have two full time research coordinators currently employed in our office, all of which are certified through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
Crystal M. Beaber, MAA, CCRC, a research coordinator, has over 5 years of clinical research experience.
Jo-Anne Tiamzon, BS, CCRC, a research coordinator, has over 7 years of clinical research experience.
The physicians of Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater draw
referrals from the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area. This population
base of greater than 2 million includes Norfolk, Virginia Beach,
Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton and Newport News.
Patients are also referred to our offices from as far away as Northeastern North Carolina, as well as the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Our site takes pride in meeting enrollment expectations and high
quality CRF completion with limited queries.
Our site can use a central IRB for outpatient studies.
