Androscoggin Cardiology Associates is a multi-physician
cardiology practice with a dedicated research department of 11
fulltime employees. Under the direction of Dr. Weiss, our site has
been one of the leading cardiology practices in Central Maine for
over 20 years. We have conducted hundreds of clinical research
trials, Phases II- IV, with many prominent leaders of the
pharmaceutical industry as well as the National Institute of Health
and National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
We are committed to delivering the highest quality of
compassionate care to our patients and personalized service to our
professional colleagues. We aspire to be the preeminent full
service cardiology group serving northern New England and to
improve the cardiovascular health of our community today with the
hopes that our participation in research will further advance
treatment for tomorrow.

Androscoggin Cardiology Associates is an outpatient based office
located within 2 miles of both Central Maine Medical Center and St.
Mary's Regional Medical Center. We have exercise treadmill
testing, an echocardiogram and a nuclear department on-site with
easy access to any other necessary testing. We are a full-service
cardiology practice with physicians board certified in internal
medicine as well as cardiology.
Our medical expertise is derived from the highly experienced and
respected leaders of our site:

With a full-time staff of 30, Androscoggin Cardiology Associates
employs a management team, support staff for our physicians and
nurse practitioners, 6 research coordinators, a regulatory
documents specialist and 3 research assistants. Our research staff
comprises 11 of these employees who are responsible for research on
a full-time basis.
Our patient population ranges from adult to geriatric men and
women with a broad range of cardiac indications and levels of
disease. Primarily Caucasian, our site does have a small population
of other ethnicities and races. Particular to our site is the large
population of French-Canadian descent that resides within our area
of the State of Maine.
Androscoggin Cardiology Associates is not directly affiliated
with a local IRB and therefore, when available, we will utilize a
central IRB for our trials. When Androscoggin Cardiology Associates
conducts a research trial requiring in-patient procedures, our site
will defer authority to the local IRB associated with the hospital
contracted to assist with such trials.
