Queens Medical Associates, PC
A newer Bigger and Better cancer facility has been created at
Queens Medical Associates right in the heart of Queens. The 15,000
square ft. facility is located in Queens, New York in Fresh Meadows
and features beautiful designs offering space, comfort, and
tranquility. The new center is part of Queens Medical Associates
plans to provide a facility with state of the art technology,
upgraded clinical areas, and more adequate space throughout. Some
of the amenities that are available include 12 new exam rooms,
larger seating reception area with flat panel televisions, and a
State-of-the-art Chemotherapy Treatment Center that currently has
27 chairs and 3 hospital beds.
Queens Medical Associates is an independent Hematology and
Oncology private practice/treatment center located in Fresh
Meadows, New York. It is currently the largest stand-alone
Hematology Oncology group practice in the borough of Queens. The
staff of expert physicians is led by Dr. Barry H. Kaplan, MD, PhD,
a well known expert in the field of Medical Oncology. The
physicians and supporting staff combine decades of experience in
Hematology Oncology clinical care and medical research to care for
patients with various Cancers and Hematological disorders. Queens
Medical Associates, PC is staffed by four full-time physicians who
all are board certified in Oncology and Hematology. Our facilities
include an on-site clinical laboratory staffed by a team of
hematology/oncology laboratory professionals; our medical staff
includes an on site Clinical Research team, In House Pharmacy and
Pharmacists, Chemotherapy treatment center and laboratory that are
staffed by five Oncology Certified Nurses, and a friendly and
professional patient care staff. Time and again, they have been
awarded as Top Doctors and received humanitarian awards for their
medical excellence.
Dr. Kaplan and our team of physicians have several decades of
combined experience in Hematology/Oncology clinical research, and
are dedicated to providing the latest treatments to our patients
through participation in Clinical Trials. We conduct our Clinical
Trials with major Pharmaceutical Companies and Clinical Research
Organizations that share our vision to provide the most innovative
and effective cancer treatments to our patients.
Under the supervision of Dr. Kaplan, the Clinical Research
department at Queens Medical Associates is coordinated by Dyonne
Taylor, BS - Clinical Research Specialist/Site Coordinator. Mrs.
Taylor has 7 years of combined experience in Hematology/Oncology
Basic Sciences Research, Data Management and Clinical Trials. She
is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook
and is currently pursuing a Master of Nursing. She has 5 years of
experience conducting Basic Sciences research in
Hematology/Oncology, has completed coursework in Database
Management and Clinical Research administration and has completed
workshops and certifications in IRB Regulations and Human Subjects
Protections at the New York Academy of Medicine.
Queens Medical Associates is located in Fresh Meadows, New York,
an area of Queens that is easily accessible by car and public
transportation. As the largest Hematology/Oncology group practice
in the borough, Queens Medical Associates provides care to a
uniquely diverse patient population.
Dr. Barry H. Kaplan, MD, PhD -
President/Medical Director
Dr. Kaplan is a well-known expert in Medical Oncology with over 40
years of experience in clinical medicine and academia. He is a
Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and has held
academic appointments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine,
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Cornell University College
of Medicine. He has also served as the Director of Medical Oncology
and Clinical Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Kaplan has lectured extensively in the field of Hematology
Oncology and has authored over 40 articles in major scientific
journals and academic publications.
Dr. Malvina Fulman, MD, FACP
Dr. Fulman has nearly 15 years of experience in Internal Medicine,
Medical Oncology and research. She is a Fellow of the American
College of Physicians and holds board-certifications in Hematology,
Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Fulman has authored
several articles in major scientific journals. She has received
several international awards and honors for published research in
Oncology, Radiology and Basic Sciences, holds teaching appointments
at the New York Hospital of Queens and has completed fellowships at
the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Cabrini Medical Center and the
Republican Hospital in Tblisi, Russia.
Dr. Lihong Wei, MD
Dr. Wei has over 20 years of experience in Pharmacology and
Internal Medicine and several years of experience in
Hematology/Oncology. She has completed fellowships and held
academic appointments at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, the
New York University Medical Center and the Shandong Medical
University in Shandong, China. Dr. Wei has received several
international honors and awards for published research in Oncology,
Pharmacology and Human Physiology.
Dr. Javier Roca, MD
Dr. Roca has 20 years of experience in Hematology/ Oncology and is
a Diplomat in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. He has
completed fellowships and held leading academic appointments at the
Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center and
the New York Hospital of Queens.
Dr. Robert D. Lewis, MD
Dr. Lewis is our newest physician on our Queens Medical Associates
team. He has an extensive experience in Hematology/ Oncology and is
a Diplomat in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. Also, he
has completed fellowships and held leading academic appointments at
the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Lennox Hill Hospital,
Montefiore Medical Center and the New York Hospital of Queens.
Our staff is led by John E. Barney -
Administrative Director
Mr. Barney has been in the health care field for more than 25
years. He has broad based practice management and administrative
experience in HMO, group practice and hospital settings.
In the past, he was the Assistant Director of Unit Management of
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and St. Lukes Roosevelt in
New York. More recently he was a Regional Administrator for a staff
model HMO Community Health Care plan in Fairfield County,
Connecticut and a Practice Administrator for a six (6) physician
Hematology/Oncology practice in Fairfield, Connecticut.
