Center Overview

Colon and Rectal Surgery Associates is a private-practice center with 17 board certified colon and rectal surgeons. The center was incorporated in 1969 and has grown to become the largest practice of colon and rectal surgeons in the world. Our mission as an independent practice is to Provide the best care for the individual, train future leaders in colon and rectal surgery and improve outcomes through education, research and meaningful collaborations.

Clinical Research Experience

Practice specialties include pelvic floor disorders, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and others. Our research endeavors include both pharmaceutical and device studies in the clinic and hospital setting going back to 1993.

Past sponsors include Janssen Pharmaceutical, Dow Pharmaceutical, Adolor Corporation, Medtronic, as well as others. We have worked closely with Omnicare and Quintiles CRO's.

Facility Description

We have both inpatient and outpatient facilities located around the "Twin City" area. We have a world renowned Center for Pelvic Floor Disorders where evaluations of incontinence, bowel dysfunction and rectal tumors are carried out.

Investigator Experience

All of our 17 physicians have a keen interest in clinical research and have a history of more than 20 years in the research arena. One physician has a PhD in clinical research.

Our patient population is primarily Caucasian adults.

Other Information

We use both a central IRB and local IRB depending on the requirements of the study. We have had one FDA audit. No citation was issued.
