(www.winthrop.org). The Winthrop Clinical Trials
Center (CTC) offers cost-effective and time efficient clinical
trial management to physicians and biopharmaceutical and device
industry sponsors. We provide an organized process for complete
trial management from investigator identification, contract
negotiation, IRB submission/approval, patient
recruitment/retention, study conduct, monitoring and reporting to
study close out. Other services offered include "PI
Finder" which matches Principal Investigators to studies, fast
and efficient contract negotiation, IRB preparation and submission,
and patient recruitment. Our certified clinical research
coordinators assist dedicated investigators in the conduct of
trials in a cost and time efficient manner.
Winthrop Departments and Divisions is currently conducting
clinical trials for all divisions of the Department of Medicine,
including Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics,
Infectious Disease, Neurology, Nephrology, Oncology/Hematology,
Pulmonary Medicine, Rheumatology and Urology. We are also
conducting trials in Surgery, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Radiology, and
Psychiatry. We have consistently met our enrollment targets.

Winthrop Clinical Trials Center is located in Mineola in Nassau
County NY, a diverse and densely populated a suburb of New York
City. The CTC is located at 222 Station Plaza, Winthrop-University
Hospital’s professional office building, directly across the street
from the Hospital. We are less than a block from the Mineola Long
Island Rail Road station, a 30-minute commute from New York City.
The Clinical Trials Center occupies 6,500 sq. feet of space. We
have four patient exam areas, a secure investigational drug storage
area, a full clinical laboratory, all required medical equipment,
EKG machines, centrifuges, -70° and -20° freezer storage, CRF
storage area and sufficient office space with dedicated rooms with
internet connect set aside for use by study monitors.
In addition to the Director, the CTC has assembled an
experienced and dedicated staff of research professionals. The
staff includes 5 research coordinators, 2 research pharmacists, a
medical technologist and 3 registered nurses who fulfill all
quality assurance and education functions. In addition there are
dedicated staff for regulatory, finance and administrative
support.
Clinical Trials Network is utilizing the Western IRB for all FDA
regulated outpatient clinical trials. All FDA regulated inpatient
clinical trials are submitted to the IRB of the Institution (
Winthrop University Hospital IRB). The Clinical Trials Office
provides a single point of contact for the sponsor company for
contracts , budgets, regulatory and patient recruitment issues. CTC
is also maintaining a database of active and potential
Investigators and can match sponsor needs with appropriate
physician.
