MISSION STATEMENT
We at AdvanceMed Research have a strong commitment to raising
awareness about clinical research, and place a high value on
integrity, innovation, and teamwork. We are dedicated to conducting
the highest level of clinical research while providing quality
patient care, preserving patient dignity, and maintaining patent’s
rights.
AdvanceMed Research’s professional staff is comprised of a
certified PI, and research coordinators that are dedicated to
performing high quality clinical research and providing a superior
level of patient care and education.
Who is AdvanceMed Research?
Our new facility is located at 2 Princess Road, Suite J, in
Lawrenceville, NJ. AdvanceMed Research is under the vision and
leadership of Gary S. Karlin, M.D. AdvanceMed Research has evolved
into a leading multi-specialty clinical research facility that
conducts Phase II-IV research studies and Phase I PK studies.
Our core proficiencies are in conducting Phase II-IV
clinical trials for the pharmaceutical, device, and diagnostic
industries. We also offer clinical research consulting in the
design and development of protocols, source documents, case report
forms, post marketing studies, pharmaco-economic studies, clinical
utilization, and outcome studies.
Our staff is also known for its speaking presentations
and contributions to articles sponsored by the pharmaceutical
companies.
AdvanceMed Research has worked with many large and small
pharmaceuticals & biotechnology companies, as well as contract
research organizations nationwide and worldwide. Our success begins
with the selection of projects. We will not commit to a study
unless we feel certain we can successfully meet or exceed
enrollment.
Our fully trained staff of professional research
coordinators has established and maintained standards as a leader
in clinical research since the company's founding in 1998. All
AdvanceMed Research coordinators are computer trained and
experienced in electronic data submission and web-based access
trials. We are trained in a number of EDC systems; Inform,
e-Clinical, DATATRAK, e-Trials, Quick Study Capture, Health
Decisions, Intralinks, & Phase Forward. Our professionals are
available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to accommodate the needs of
the patient and the study.

Principal Investigator/Sub-investigator: Dr. Gary S. Karlin, MD, CPI, Board Certified Urologist, with over 25 years of research experience.
Principal Investigator/Sub-investigator: Dr. Russell M. Freid, MD, Board Certified Urologist, with over 14 years of research experience.
Sub-investigator: Dr. Jarad S. Fingerman, DO, with over 8 years of research experience
Sub-investigator: Dr. Michael S. Cohen, MD, with over 5 years of research experience
Principal Investigator/Sub-investigator: Dr. Arnold Witte, MD, Board Certified Neurologist, with over 5 years of research experience.
Meet the Staff
Julie Prettyman, RN, BSN, CCRC, Director , Julie is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator with over 25 years of clinical research experience. She has extensive experience in all facets of the clinical trial process including management, regulatory, budgeting and IRB processes. Julie has been published in industry publications, and serves as a guest speaker for multiple pharmaceutical companies as well as numerous other associations.
Patricia Burke de Garcia, RS , Patricia joined AdvanceMed Research in 2010. She has been working in the medical field since 1981. She has worked for companies such as, Hahnemann University Hospital, Princeton University’s Medical department, Blue Cross BlueShield and more recently Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. She works preparing regulatory documents and coordinating patient care.
Theresa Ryan, RN, Theresa became a research coordinator in 1998 and has conducted several trials. She joined the Staff of AdvanceMed Research in 2011 after working with Premier Urology Associates for 33 years. She is currently managing our data and assists with study specific procedures as needed.
Gretchen Palacios, CRC, Gretchen is new to AdvanceMed Research but not to clinical trials. Since 1999, she has conducted various Phase III-IV studies with a multi-specialty practice including obstetrics and gynecology. Gretchen’s medical assistant background helps her provide excellent patient care. She is currently pursuing her RN degree, and plans to take her research certification in the near future.
Mary Jane DiFresca, Mary Jane’s involvement in clinical research began in 2004 when she completed Certification in Drug Development and Clinical Research. She has joined AdvanceMed Research as Patient Recruitment Specialist. Through face to face and telephone recruitment she is dedicated to informing potential subjects the benefits associated with clinical trials. Prior to joining our clinical team, she was a market research consultant in the pharmaceutical industry for 15 years. This is where she developed a broad knowledge in many therapeutic areas.
Melissa Ciatteo, CCRC, Melissa has been a research coordinator since 2003. She has conducted over 75 trials from Phase I-IV. Melissa is able to handle every aspect of protocol requirements from specimen collection to close-out. Melissa earned her credentials as a certified clinical research coordinator in 2010. Melissa develops the necessary rapport with patient’s for optimum recruitment and retention. She is currently studying for her phlebotomy certification.
Our active patient base includes over 20,000 individuals
distributed among both sexes and a wide range of ages. Furthermore,
due to the location of our practice, we treat patients from both
inner city and suburban populations.
We are able to utilize a central IRB and a central laboratory,
but have the support of our local IRB and Lab when needed.
