Franklin J. Zieve, M.D., Ph.D., is the Associate Chief of Staff
for Research and Development at the McGuire VA Medical Center. He
is also Associate Professor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth
University. Specializing in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology,
Dr. Zieve has clinical research expertise in diabetes,
hyperlipidemias, geriatric endocrinology, metabolic bone disease,
endocrine hypertension and pharmacology.
Dr. Zieve's clinical research work is supported by a variety
of clinical resources including:

The McGuire Research Institute is a non-profit organization
associated with the Richmond Veterans Administration Medical
Center, an 802-bed tertiary referral hospital affiliated with the
Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. The
annual revenue of McGuire Research Institute is over $2,000,000 in
privately funded (CRO, pharmaceutical and biotech companies) trials
and over $3,000,000 in government funded (NIH, VA, ADA) basic
research.
Dr. Zieve's clinical population includes over 3,200
diabetics (principally Type II) and 1,100 patients under treatment
for lipid disorders. The patient population draws from a variety of
clinics including Lipid, D.C.C.T., Metabolic Bone, Diabetic,
Geriatric, Endocrine, Diabetes/Lipid Pharmacotherapy, Hypertension
and Diabetic Podiatry.
