American Gastroenterological Association
The American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) is dedicated to the mission of advancing the science and practice of gastroenterology. Founded in 1897, the AGA is the oldest medical-specialty society in the United States. Comprised of two non-profit organizations – the AGA and the AGA Institute – our 16,500 members include physicians and scientists who research, diagnose and treat disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.


American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
The American Society for Nutrition (>3100 members) is the premier research society dedicated to improving the quality of life through the science of nutrition. The Society fulfills its mission by fostering and enhancing research in animal and human nutrition; providing opportunities for sharing, disseminating, and archiving peer-reviewed nutrition research results (at its annual meeting and in its publications, The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and The Journal of Nutrition); fostering quality education and training in nutrition; upholding standards for ethical behavior in research, the protection of human subjects, and the care and treatment of research animals; providing opportunities for fellowship and support among nutritionists; and bringing scientific knowledge to bear on nutrition issues through communication and influence in the public domain.

CURE: Digestive Diseases Research Center
The CURE: Digestive Diseases Research Center is composed of a cohesive group of physicians and basic scientists with strong independent grant-supported research programs in the biology of the gut, with special emphasis upon regulation of mucosal cell function and gut neuroscience. CURE first received NIDDK funding in 1974 as a center to study peptic ulcer disease and became a Digestive Disease Core Center in 1989. The research emphasis of the Center is acquisition of new knowledge about cellular and physiological processes that control gut function and translation of this knowledge into development of therapy for patients with gastrointestinal diseases.


Digestive Disease National Coalition
The Digestive Disease National Coalition (DDNC) is an advocacy organization comprised of the major national voluntary and professional societies concerned with digestive diseases. The DDNC focuses on improving public policy related to digestive diseases and increasing public awareness with respect to the many diseases of the digestive system. The DDNC was founded in 1978 and is based in Washington D.C.


European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL)
EASL is the leading liver association in Europe. They address all diseases of the liver from Hepatitis to liver cancer.

Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation
The Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation (GIRF) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for clinical and laboratory research in digestive diseases in the Gastroenterology Section at the University of Chicago Medical Center. GIRF provides funds for equipment, laboratories and support of investigators and young physicians in the University of Chicago GI Section, a group of full-time dedicated doctors who seek solutions to all kinds of gastrointestinal illnesses, affecting the esophagus, the stomach, the small intestine, the large intestine, the liver, the gallbladder, and the pancreas.


North American Society for Pediactric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition
The mission of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is to advance understanding of normal development, physiology and pathophysiology of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver in children, improve quality of care by fostering the dissemination of this knowledge through scientific meetings, professional and public education, and policy development, and serve as an effective voice for members and the profession.
