PPD and DiabetesAmerica Enter Exclusive Partnership

Tuesday, December 22, 2009 07:37 AM

Wilmington, N.C.-based PPD has entered into an exclusive partnership with Houston, Texas-based DiabetesAmerica to provide clinical research training and support to the company’s 17 clinical trial centers across Texas and Arizona.

The contract research organization (CRO) will support more than 20 clinical trial investigators conducting type 1 and type 2 diabetes clinical trials. In return, DiabetesAmerica will work exclusively with PPD for a minimum of three years to provide clinical research services for endocrine and metabolic disease development programs. PPD will be able to recruit clinical trial participants from DiabetesAmerica’s 16,000-plus patient database.

"Diabetes is a disease with serious complications that affects more than 23 million Americans," said Mike Wilkinson, executive vice president of clinical development at PPD. "DiabetesAmerica's patient database expands our ability to offer clinical trial options to a broader population of people living with this increasingly common disease."
